‘Cyril’ has somehow managed to escape having a profile done for the last four seasons, despite being part of the original Cwmcarn Athletic set-up. So this write up is long overdue and true to form, he’s certainly let his feelings be known about it! It’s fair to say Cyril likes a whinge. ‘No I don’t’ I hear him cry. Point proved!! In fairness, his gripes over the years have often been with some justification. Used as the original ‘supersub’ by the manager in the clubs first few years, his scoring record should perhaps have justified more starts than he got. Last season though, with the introduction of the 2nd team, Cyril was truly let off the leash and finished as the squad’s highest scorer with a sensational 24 goals to his name. A feat which has helped him become one of the clubs all time highest goal scorers and he’s well on his way this season to being out on his own for goals scored.
Off the pitch, Cyril is very much a family man. He’s not really into the drinking scene, which sadly can’t be said for the majority of the squad! Though he does venture out for the odd Xmas do and even the odd cheeky tour or two!! A Liverpool fan, which in my book sets him apart from the riff raff, Cyril is the quiet mans footballer (except when he’s moaning!!!) and will hopefully be a part of the squad for many years to come.
